So today working in the dairy shed I got thinking, I turn 18 on Friday and I have no idea what I want to actually *do* with my life. I mean, dairy farming is great, it’d be a great career, good money, easy to climb the ladder1 & great work mates2. However, what if I don’t enjoy it? Yes I enjoy it now, but will I next year?
The good thing about living out your dream job at a young age, is that if it doesn’t work out, I can’t say; “I spent my whole fucking life trying to get here, and turns out this is a shit job for me“. But I can say; “Well, I tried, I don’t like it, but I can move on with life and try something new.”
So I called up The Correspondence School to talk to my learning adviser. I was honest with her3 that I haven’t sent in work for ages. mainly because I’ve been working 2months straight4 for calving, and I have my dream job. I told her however that I want to continue, I just need to drop subjects, I was doing six, which is to much work load for someone at TCS anyhow, but I was doing OK before my job. I explained that I just need to get UE5, I don’t want extra credits for the sake of it, I’ll get those via AgITO. She said that’s OK, and so we talked about the credits I needed.
Here is my list of subjects I’m doing now;
- English
- Maths
- Biology
- Computer Studies
English and maths are highly important to get UE, they are the base of it. Well, the are the UE credits. Bio and Computers are the credits that the Uni’s accept as extra credits. So these don’t count as “For the sake of it” credits. I also need these, and for me, they are the easiest to get.I told my Learning Adviser that as wel, she said she understands that, and it’s fine, people chose easy subjects all the time. Haha.
So now (well, Thursday night I hope, I have a AgITO thing tomorrow I must study for) I will try my best to fit in one hour a day of school work. I think I may have to spreed it out over lunch / breakfast / after work, as after work I have to many things to do before I go to bed at 8:30 to set aside a whole hour. As much as school work is important, so is keeping my unit clean, and eating.
I think the next post6 I shall try to make sense of what I want to do. Because these blogs help me make sense of things. Even if no one else understands.![]()

Do you enjoy working on the farm? I would love to start working on a farm but I don’t know if I could handle the work load and the long hours.
I have also just got accepted into Correspondence School. Is it easy or not really?
